Program Overview

Human Resource Management is a strategic and coherent approach to the management of an organization’s most valued assets, the people working in organizations, individually and collectively to contribute to the achievement of organizational goals. Application of competencies in Human Resource Management is essential for survival of any organizations.
The Programme offers graduates a wide range of career employment opportunities as Managers and Human Resource Specialists in central in government, local government, Non Government Organizations, public and private institutions. Graduates can be employed as Human Resource Managers, Human Resource Assistants, Human Resource Administrators, Administrative assistants, Personnel Officers, Training Officers, Wages & salary administrator, Secretaries to District and Public service commission’s as technocrats, personnel officers in different sections (e.g. Education, Safety & Health, and Probation & Welfare Officers etc.) Capacity Building Officers, Organizational Development Officers, Change Management Officers, Training Officers, Performance Management Officers, Team Coordinators. The Programme further offers opportunities in self employment as consultants, trainers and researchers in different areas of Human Resource Management.

Program Objectives

This degree aims to acquaint aspirant Human Resource Management Professionals with an analysis of business environment comprehensively from the human resource perspective. It is a market oriented Programme targeting both the national and international market.

  • Producing HR professionals who can competently  handle the day to day Human Resource challenges in the organizations at national and international levels.

Program Requirements

Admission into the first year is through any for the four avenues:
1. Direct entry: candidate must have the following:
a. U.C.E examination (or equivalent) and obtained a Certificate in it with at least 6 credits
b. Obtained at least 2 principal level passes at Uganda Advance Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) or the equivalent obtained at the same sitting from a reputable institunion.
c. International students must submit ALL their academic documents to the University for pre - evaluation by the Dean of Faculty in order to  determine their eligibility qualifications according to National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) guidelines.
The weighting system is as follows:
·      Essential: 2 best done of all "A" level subjects
·      Relevant: third best done of all "A" level subjects
·      Desirable: General paper
·      Others: all others
 
2.   Diploma Holder Scheme: Candidate must hold a diploma in a related discipline from a recognized institution.
3.   Professional Qualification: Candidates who completed level one of any professional program will be eligible upon evaluation.
4.   Mature Age: Candidates must have passed a mature age entrance examinations.
